Role:  Safety Officer Contractor 

Location:  Stansted

Hours:  Monday to Thursday 08:30-17:00, Friday 08:30-14:30

Salary:  DOE

Duration: 3 months

 

The Safety Manager remains the unique focal point for the development, administration, and maintenance of the organisations safety management processes.
Duties and Responsibilities. The following list is not exhaustive.

  • managing the safety reporting scheme and the occurrence reporting system, including initiation and follow-up of internal occurrence investigations; 
  • he/she is responsible for co-ordinating action on airworthiness occurrences and for initiating any necessary further investigation and follow-up activity (145.A.60, AMC M.A.202.a); 
  • establishing regular meetings with the Accountable Manager & Director of Compliance & Safety to appraise the effectiveness of the quality system. This will include details of any reported discrepancy not being adequately addressed by the relevant person or in respect of any disagreement concerning the nature of a discrepancy; 
  • facilitate hazard identification, risk assessment and management; 
  • monitor the implementation of actions taken to mitigate risks, as listed in the safety action plan, unless action follow-up is addressed by the compliance monitoring function; 
  • provide periodic reports on safety performance to the safety review board;
  • ensure the maintenance of safety management documentation; 
  • ensure that there is safety training available, and that it meets acceptable standards; 
  • provide advice on safety matters; 
  • establishing feedback from maintenance incidents/issues and feeding these back into the recurrent training programme;
  • ensuring that the safety investigation process is consistent in upholding a Just Culture, including analysis of system performance and organisational factors.
  • ensuring that actions taken to mitigate risks are monitored for implementation and effectiveness.
  • ensuring that safety performance is measured against defined targets and the results disseminated to the organisation.
  • ensuring safety management training is available and that it meets acceptable standards.
  • performing safety investigations in accordance with defined protocols to identify effective interventions.
  • performing analysis of safety events and associated causal factors against defined taxonomy to identify and communicate adverse trends.
  • monitoring the implementation and effectiveness of control measures following safety events.
  • The identification and assessment of issues and their transmission to the manager(s) responsible for the processes concerned;
  • any other function as deemed necessary and suitable by the Director of Compliance & Safety.
