Job Purpose
The Engineering Support Manager oversees the daily operations of the MRO Engineering Support department This role involves managing and directing a multi-disciplined team, including Planning, Document Control, Aircraft Project Management, and Technical Services. The primary objective is to ensure seamless support for day-to-day production activities, optimising efficiency and maintaining high standards of operational performance.
Job Accountabilities
Team Leadership and Management:
Lead and manage a multi-disciplined team, responsible for overseeing the estimation, preparation, production and post-production phases of aircraft maintenance projects.
Foster a collaborative and productive work environment, encouraging professional growth and development within the team.
Operational Oversight:
Oversee the daily operations of the MRO Engineering Support department to ensure efficient support of the Base Maintenance activities.
Monitor workflow and productivity, implementing improvements as necessary to meet production goals.
Project Management:
Coordinate and manage aircraft maintenance projects, ensuring timelines and budgets, are met.
Facilitate communication between departments to ensure smooth project execution and resolution of any issues.
Documentation and Compliance:
Ensure accurate and timely control of all technical documentation and records in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and standards, ensuring departmental compliance.
Planning and Scheduling:
Develop and oversee maintenance planning and scheduling processes to optimise resource utilisation and minimise downtime.
Collaborate with other departments to forecast maintenance needs and align resources accordingly.
Performance Monitoring:
Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the department to track efficiency, quality, and productivity.
Conduct regular performance reviews and implement corrective actions when necessary to achieve departmental objectives.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the team, encouraging innovative solutions and best practices.
Stakeholder Communication:
Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, including clients and senior management.
Address and resolve any escalated issues or concerns promptly and professionally.
Qualification:
A recognised apprenticeship within the aircraft industry or engineering degree.
Experience/Knowledge
5 years working in aircraft maintenance, production planning or airline environment; or project management with experience in a leadership role.
Experience with MRO IT software, such as AMOS, OASES, Rusada etc would be an advantage but not essential
Technical experience in aviation and able to demonstrate knowledge of airworthiness regulation
Have a working knowledge of Aircraft Maintenance Planning; and
High standard of English language (written and oral)
High standard of computer literacy, especially Microsoft Office Suite.
