Play your part as an Army Flying Grade Flight Commander – Qualified Flight Instructor at our Middle Wallop site.

The role

  • As a AFG Flight Commander - QFI you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Make a difference with us by continuing to deliver, meet and exceed our customer expectations in a fast paced, challenging and real life operational setting critical to future defence output.

  • Day-to-day, you’ll ensure delivery of Army Flying Grading on behalf of the MoD to selected Army students as required to meet and exceed customer expectations and LAFT2 contractual needs at all times. 

  • You will be responsible for leading a small but enthusiastic, multi-disciplined team, engaging with the local customer to ensure all Contractual and legislative policies and processes are met while ensuring Airworthiness and Health and safety considerations are not compromised. You will also:

  • Research into the weather conditions at the start of the day to determine flying conditions

  • Evaluate candidates’ performances throughout their course

Required:

Essential experience of the AFG Flight Commander – QFI:

  • Previous military flying experience with a minimum B1 QFI/QHI category.

  • Proven leadership ability to lead a small diverse team

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with staff and customers when required.

  • Excellent planning and organisation skills, to manage different tasks, priorities and deadlines.

Qualifications for the AFG Flight Commander – QFI:

  • Minimum of Commercial Pilots Licence, Unrestricted Instructor Rating (with Aerobatics) and valid Instrument Rating

  • Completed a Flying Supervisors Course/ Flight Authorisers Course

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
